Mr. Mohd Afendi bin Hussin is a Certified Arborist and Senior Arboriculture Consultant with over 36 years of experience in the field of arboriculture, landscape management, and urban forestry. A Diploma in Agriculture graduate from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist since 2005, he has dedicated his career to the advancement of sustainable landscape practices and professional tree care in Malaysia. Throughout his tenure at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Mr. Afendi has served in multiple key roles including Senior Research Assistant, Project Officer, and Senior Research Associate, where he has contributed significantly to national and private sector landscape development projects. His involvement includes iconic projects such as the KLIA Landscape Project, National Stadium Bukit Jalil Pocket Forest, Mutiara Rini Urban Forest Park, Zoo Negara Panda Habitat Landscape Upgrade, and Bank Negara Malaysia Heritage Garden, among many others. Mr. Afendi is also highly specialized in arboricultural assessments, including Tree Valuation (Thyer Tree Valuation – TTV) and Visual Tree Assessment (VTA), for numerous public and private clients across Malaysia. His technical expertise in tree diagnostics, risk assessment, and valuation has supported the management and conservation of green assets in cities such as Putrajaya, Shah Alam, Kedah, and Perlis. Beyond project execution, Mr. Afendi is a passionate trainer and speaker who has been frequently invited to deliver talks and training programs by prominent agencies including the Public Works Department (JKR), INTAN Bukit Kiara, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), Majlis Perbandaran Sepang (MPS), UKM, and DBKL. His courses focus on tree pruning, landscape maintenance, nursery management, and Miyawaki forest development, contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s arboriculture competency.
