Professional Biography

Dr. Izran Sarrazin Mohammad, CFMM, is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Real Estate, Faculty of Built Environment & Survey, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), with over two decades of academic, research, and industry experience in Facilities Management, Real Estate, and Asset Management. He holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Facilities Management, a Bachelor of Science (GIS), and a Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning, all from UTM. In 2025, he was accredited as a Certified Facility Management Manager (CFMM) by CIDB Malaysia and appointed as a Building Performance Rating Board Member by JKR, further solidifying his prominence in the Malaysian FM field. Since joining UTM in 2011, Dr. Izran has held multiple key leadership roles including Director of the UTM–BIFM Facilities Management Training Centre, Programme Coordinator for postgraduate FM programmes, and Chairperson for the UTM Post-Occupancy Evaluation Committee. He has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering subjects such as Facilities Management, Strategic FM, Maintenance Management, Performance Management, and GIS for Real Estate. Dr. Izran has supervised numerous postgraduate students—producing multiple PhD and MSc graduates—and continues to supervise ongoing doctoral research in ESG-driven FM metrics and sustainable investment models. A prolific researcher, Dr. Izran has led and contributed to numerous national grants including FRGS, RUG, TRG, and industry-funded research, with specialisation in servicescape intangible value, building performance, green buildings, FM outsourcing, sustainable urban development, and behavioural aspects of facility users. His research portfolio includes an extensive list of publications across indexed journals such as Journal of Facilities Management, Construction & Building Materials, Property Management, IJAFB, and Jurnal Teknologi. He has authored book chapters under Springer and holds several intellectual property rights for training modules and FM frameworks. With an h-index of 9 and over 180 Scopus citations, his academic contributions reflect substantial impact within the FM and built environment fields. Beyond academia, Dr. Izran is widely engaged as an invited speaker, module advisor, external examiner, and seminar trainer for universities, government agencies, and industry bodies. His engagements span topics such as research proposal development, building performance, facilities troubleshooting, and post-occupancy evaluation. He has contributed internationally through collaborative sessions with the Construction Services Development Board of West Sumatera and has been consistently sought after for expert insights in FM practice and education.
